What do we see in this artwork Tiger and Magpie on cushions?
This cushion printed mural "Tiger and Magpie" by Korean artist Misun Kim is a very rare classic Asian artwork these days. The mural was created in 2014, but the style and motif immerse it in a bygone era of art. The tiger, which is given a lot of space in the artwork due to its imposing size, is the first to be seen. The color of the fur and the camouflage stripes make it blend into the background. Only the bright yellow-red eyes and the tongue stand out and give an idea of the animal's roar. Behind the tiger there is a tree on which two magpies sit and look down on the tiger. Finally we see an intense red sun in the sky, slightly obscured by clouds. Another thin blue-green line runs almost invisibly through the image. We imagine that this is the shore of a lake in Korea, at a time when our civilization was in its infancy, if at all, and there was no human influence, because we no longer find such a motif in the real world today .
